3 Stupid Tourist Mistakes Not To Make When They Travel To Pu Luong

1. Think that google map knows all the villages.

Many villages in Pu Luong are not available on google map, so when you want to go to any village, you should write down on paper where you want to come and call the native people or ask people to make sure.
I have met many teams who lost the way. in last marathon, one girl come from Saigon who wanted to go to Hang village to register to run marathon because she registered late, she did not ask me what is the google map tool only the distance from outside of Nang Nang Temple, over 100km. if she did not tell me soon, taxi driver can take her to other province.
As Ban Don village, my home is not available on google map so be careful. Mr. google map can show you to to Ban Don Dak Lak province in the south of viet nam.
Don't Believe 100% In google map .

2. Just think: Pu Luong has many shops, many hotels and book it when you arrive.

Many customershave to cancle the trip because they did not book in advance . The market opens twice a week, the town is far away from 18-20km. If you do not call first, then you have to go to the town for eatting and return to Mai Chau. .

3. Don't Understand Homestay Model

Think of it as a vacation home, with air conditioning, many private rooms ... but the reality is that this model is different, many young people do not know and do not understand. check google first before you come

Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau – Trek to the Pu Luong nature reserve (140 km & 5-hour walk)

We will depart from Hanoi at 07:00 am and head to Mai Chau. After two hours up into the mountain, we will arrive at Mai Chau and start our Mai Chau Trek to Pu Luong nature reserve.

Starting at Ton village in Nam Son Commune, we will start to trek down the forest. The climax of this trek is experiencing the beauty of Pu Luong’s Nature Reserve, the everyday life, and culture of the White Thai people.

We will stop for a while and have a picnic lunch in the forest and after fully rested continue down the route down to Hin village. The host family welcomes us and this provides another free time to take a rest, have a shower then a traditional dinner and pass over the night.

Day 2: Pu Luong Trek. We trek to Nua and Kho Muong villages (4.5 to 5 hours walk).

After breakfast, we look forward to a more challenging full day of hiking. About 4 km to the Nua village, there is a cool stream for you to rest and relieve yourself from the heat of the day before embarking on an exciting trekking exercise with more challenges. As we go further, the trekking becomes more remote yet one is always likely to find a villager tending fields, passing through the steep limestone mountain or the rain forest inside the Pu Luong Nature Reserve to the village. After a rough trek, we will have a picnic lunch at Pon village.

We will advance, and encounter some steep areas, cross more streams then arrive in Kho Muong village where we will spend our second night in a typical Thai eco – stilt house (set up by FFI – Flora and Fauna Internationa).

This gives us ample time to relax, shower and enjoy dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Kho Muong to Mai Chau.

We get up and observe or even take part in the host family activities in the morning because they are early risers. We take an opportunity to stroll around the village before having a Thai style breakfast.

After fully rested and packed, we walk further to the main road. At this point, our driver will drive us up back to Mai Chau for lunch then we take some free time for walking around the village, shopping Thai handicrafts and finally return back to Hanoi.

What to bring: Passport, towels, swimsuits, toiletries, change of clothes, sunblock, sunglasses, hat, insect repellent, flashlights, small notes for buying drinks.

The best time for this trekking exercise is between “September to April”

1. Kho Muong Village

This is located at the foot of the mountain, to get into this version you have to walk or motorcycle by stone road, sometimes there is hard road. From the highway 15C you go about 3 km to New Arrivals, the first feeling very shocking and uncomfortable to go on such a road, but when the village is a beautiful village with beautiful roofed houses. The palm leaves are very cool, surrounded by the limestone mountains are still intact beauty of its inherent beauty, here I was welcomed by the Thai people are very friendly. 2.Uoi Village

4 km away is the village with about 70 households, the first time I really amazed by its wild beauty.100% of the households here still preserve the lifestyle of the Thai ethnic, from the top You see the stream flowing, the simple folds, see the rice hills are planted on the majestic terraced fields, The beauty here makes me remember Sa Pa. But now sa pa step into the construction and commercialization, it is losing its wild beauty, this place is probably where I find the feeling of living with nature, peaceful people and happy.
3. Lan Ngoai Village

This version is famous for brocade weaving left over in Pu Luong land. Here you can admire the skillful hands of the Thai ethnic women are embroidered Brocade with passion and happiness, Each beat is the rhythm of their love to send brocade. Here I feel very slow, relaxed and happy.

If one day you want to find yourself a place of peace, find the original man inside you. Coming here , I'm sure: Pu Luong will wake you up.

1.Bản Kho Mường
Bản này nằm lọt dưới chân núi, để đi được vào bản này bạn phải đi bộ hặc xe máy bằng con đường rải đá,thỉnh thoảng có đoạn đường đất rất khó đi. Từ quốc lộ 15C bạn đi khoảng 3 km nữa mới đến, Ban đầu cảm giác rất xóc và khó chịu khi phải đi trên con đường như vậy nhưng khi đến đầu bản thì một ngôi làng nhỏ rất đẹp hiện ra với những ngôi nhà sàn lợp bằng lá cọ rất mát mẻ, bao bọc quan bản là những ngọn núi đá vôi vẫn còn nguyên vẹn vẻ đẹp hoang sơ vốn có của nó, Đến đây tôi được đón tiếp của người dân tộc Thái rất thân thiện. Vào trong nhà uống những ngụm trà xanh cùng trò chuyện với họ để hiểu hơn về dân tộc Thái .Nơi đây quả thật rất thú vị mà bạn khó có thể tìm được cảm giác đó ở nơi khác

2. Bản Ươi
Cách 4 km là bản Ươi có khoảng 70 hộ dân, Lần đầu tiên tôi thực sự ngỡ ngàng trước vẻ đẹp hoang sơ của nó.100% những hộ dân ở đây vẫn còn lưu giữ được nếp sống của người dân tộc Thái, Từ trên cao bạn ngắm được con suối chảy, những nếp nhà đơn sơ, nhìn thấy những khóm lúa được trồng trên những thửa ruộng bậc thang hùng vỹ , Vẻ đẹp ở đây làm cho tôi nhớ đến Sa pa. Nhưng giờ đây sa pa bước vào công cuộc xây dựng và thương mại hóa, nó đang dẫn đánh mất đi vẻ đẹp hoang sơ của nó thì Nơi đây có lẽ là nơi tôi tìm lại cảm giác được sống với thiên nhiên, con người bình yên và hạnh phúc.
3. Bản Lặn Ngoài
Bản này nổi tiếng với nghề dệt thổ cẩm còn sót lại trên mảnh đất Pù Luông. Đến đây bạn được chiêm ngưỡng những bàn tay khéo léo của những phụ nữ dân tộc Thái đang thêu những tấm Thổ cẩm với niềm đam mê và hạnh phúc, Từng nhịp đan là từng nhịp gửi gắm tình yêu của họ vào những tấm thổ cẩm.Ở đây tôi cảm thấy nhịp sống rất chậm rãi, thư thái và hạnh phúc.
